Following a series of local meetings with Ysgol Llanaelhaearn’s Governing Body and other relevant stakeholders, and a detailed assessment of possible options, at its meeting on 5 November 2019, Gwynedd Council's Cabinet decided to begin a period of statutory consultation on the proposal to close Ysgol Llanaelhaearn on 31 August 2020 and to provide pupils with a place at Ysgol Bro Plenydd, Y Ffôr. This is due to a substantial fall in pupil numbers, with only eight children attending the school in September 2019, these numbers have fallen steadily since 2012, when there were 42 children attended the school.
It is anticipated that the statutory consultation period will commence in the next few weeks.
