Apply for a Residential Parking Permit

If you live within a controlled parking zone (CPZ), you may be eligible to apply for a residential parking permit. This permit allows you to park your vehicle in designated areas near your home without facing penalties.

Who Can Apply?

Residents who:

  • Live within a designated CPZ.
  • Own or lease a vehicle registered at their home address.

You will need to provide proof of address and vehicle ownership or lease documents to complete your application.

How to Apply

You can apply for a residential parking permit online or by post. Please follow these simple steps:

Apply Online:

  1. Register or log in to your council account.
  2. Select the Residential Parking Permit option.
  3. Upload proof of address and vehicle documentation.
  4. Pay the permit fee using a debit or credit card.
  5. Once approved, your permit will be posted to your address within 5 working days.

Apply by Post:

  1. Download and complete the Residential Parking Permit Application Form.
  2. Attach copies of your proof of address and vehicle documents.
  3. Send your completed form and a cheque for the permit fee to the council.

Permit Fees

The cost of a residential parking permit varies depending on your vehicle’s emissions and the length of the permit. Please see the fee structure below:

  • Low-emission vehicles: £50 per year
  • Standard vehicles: £100 per year
  • High-emission vehicles: £150 per year

Permit Validity

Permits are issued for a period of 12 months and must be renewed before they expire. You will receive a reminder 30 days before your permit is due to expire.

What You Need to Apply

To complete your application, you will need:

  • Proof of address (e.g., council tax bill, utility bill).
  • Proof of vehicle ownership or a valid lease agreement.
  • A debit or credit card to pay the application fee (if applying online).

Lost or Stolen Permits

If your permit is lost or stolen, you can request a replacement online or by contacting our Parking Services team. A replacement fee of £10 applies.
