Ysgol y Faenol

In accordance with the decision of the Governing Body of Ysgol y Faenol in September 2021, the implementation date of the proposal to increase capacity at Ysgol y Faenol to 315 learners was delayed from 1 September 2021 to 25 April 2022. (A copy of the letter shared with the stakeholders in September 2021 can be found below).

At their meeting on 15 March 2022, the Governing Body of Ysgol y Faenol decided to “delay implementation of the proposal to increase the capacity of the school to 315 pupils, from 25 April 2022 to 23 December 2022, on the grounds that it would be unreasonably difficult to implement on the implementation date (25 April 2022) due to delay in the construction schedule, and as discussions regarding the transfer of school grounds are ongoing”

On behalf of the Governing Body of Ysgol y Faenol, an electronic copy of a letter setting out the reasons for delaying the implementation date is shown below:

Stakeholder letter- September 2021

On thursday, 24 January, 2019, the Governing Body of Ysgol y Faenol approved the proposal to increase the capacity of Ysgol y Faenol to 315 pupils from 1 January 2021. A statutory objection period was held between 23 November 2018 and 21 December 2018.

On Tuesday, 19 November 2019, the Governing Body decided to delay the proposal implementation date to increase the capacity of Ysgol y Faenol to 315 pupils from 1 January 2021 to 1 September 2021.

No valid bids were received in the original tendering process, and therefore there is a need to re-tender the building contract which would delay the building work start date. This means that it would be unreasonably difficult to implement the proposal on the original date.

Objection Report

Following publication of a statutory notice on the proposal to increase the capacity of Ysgol y Faenol, an objection period was held between 23 November 2018 and 21 December 2018. No objections were received during the objection period.

The Governing Body of Ysgol y Faenol will meet on 24 January 2019 to discuss the next steps.
