Admission to secondary school (Year 7)

Parents of Year 6 pupils need to apply for their child to attend Year 7 at one of Gwynedd’s secondary schools.

You must apply before 19 December 2025 (for September 2026).

Before you apply, please:

  • read the Information for Parents Handbook/School Admissions Policy
  • understand that completing this form does not guarantee admission to any school
  • remember that pupils in Year 6 at Ysgol Godre’r Berwyn and Year 6 at Ysgol Bro Idris do not need to apply to if they wish to attend Year 7 at the same School. They will need to apply if they want to move to Year 7 at a different School.

What will happen next?

You will be notified about the outcome of your application on 1 March.

To view or amend a submitted application, log in to your Cyngor Gwynedd online account and click on ‘My requests’.  Go to My Account

Late applications

You need to apply for a place in a Secondary School before 19 December 2025 (for September 2026). It is possible to apply after this date, but it will considered as a late entry and it’s possible that you won’t be informed about the result on 1 March.
