Community Arts

The Gwynedd Community Arts Unit delivers a series of annual initiatives that support people to access, enjoy and experience the arts, for the benefit of individuals, society, the economy and community.

Each year the Community Arts Unit runs a varied programme of activities and projects across Gwynedd. From workshops to exhibitions, courses and grants, festivals and creative projects, we aim to make the arts accessible to all.

Vision and Principles for Culture in Gwynedd

Vision: "Culture in Gwynedd is vital, innovative and rooted in our communities. It gives colour to life, promotes well-being, and reflects our diverse identities and our Welshness confidently to Wales and the world. Culture in Gwynedd is vibrant and vivid and together, we want to maintain, support and grow a culture that belongs to everyone - today and into the future".

Generates new ideas, sets high standards and identifies funding sources to support implementation.

Reflects our diverse culture and the Welsh language confidently to Wales and the world.

Culture as a positive force for health, education, happiness and the local economy, with opportunities for artists to work here or return to Gwynedd to live and work.

Enjoyment and experiences

Offers fun, entertainment and opportunities for informal socialising and learning.

Grants

Grants are available to support arts activity. We can also support professional performances in the community through the Night Out and Mini Night Out (opens in new tab) schemes, in partnership with the Arts Council of Wales

Event to Celebrate the Culture of Gwynedd For Everybody's Well-being

The culture sector has come together recently in Portmeirion for a special event to celebrate.

Organised by Cyngor Gwynedd, the buzzing event, attended by close to 80 representatives, was an opportunity to learn, explore and celebrate the sector with stakeholders, highlighting the importance of culture for everybody's well-being.
