Planning policy

The Planning Policy Service is responsible for producing land use planning policies and guidance that are used in deciding planning applications and therefore guide future development in the area.

The Service will be preparing a new Local Development Plan for the Gwynedd Planning Authority. Until this has been adopted, the Joint Local Development Plan continues to set the policy framework for the Gwynedd Planning Area.

All planning policy enquiries relating to the Gwynedd Local Planning Authority area should be directed to the Planning Policy Service.

Gwynedd Local Development Plan (the new Plan)
The process of preparing a new Local Development Plan (LDP) for Gwynedd has commenced. The new LDP will cover a period between 2024 and 2039.
Supplementary Planning Guidance
Following adoption of the JLDP, the Council is in the process of preparing a suite of topic based Supplementary Planning Guidance (SPG)
Joint Local Development Plan (opens in new tab)
In 2017 Gwynedd and Isle of Anglesey County Council adopted a Joint Local Development Plan. The LDP now forms the development plan for Gwynedd and Anglesey Local Planning Authority areas and will be the basis for decisions on land use planning in this area.
