Library service for children and young people

Gwynedd libraries have new books arriving weekly. There’s something here for everyone. You can also:

  • use the computers for free, which have access to the internet
  • use our wide selection of books to help with homework and projects
  • gain access to websites that can help you with your homework
  • take part in the Summer Reading Challenge during the summer holidays
  • borrow Story sacks (sack contents include story books, games and toys) for young children.

 

Story and Rhyme Time for children under 5 - (school term time only)

Welsh and bilingual story and singing sessions – all welcome!

  • Barmouth library –first Friday of every month, 14:00 - 15:00
  • Bangor library – every Monday, 10:30 - 11:30
  • Caernarfon library – every Thursday, 13:30 - 14:30.
  • Dolgellau library – first and third Saturday of every month, 10.30 - 11.30
  • Porthmadog library- every Friday of every month, 14:15 - 15:00
  • Pwllheli library – second and forth Friday of every month, 13:30 - 14:30
  • Tywyn library – first Tuesday of every month, 14:00 - 15:00

 

Bag Books Bag

Books are story packs containing multi sensory items for use by adults with children who have learning disabilities.

Helping hand books

There are books on all types of situations, and often, a difficult problem or subject can be introduced to young children through the medium of picture books. The collection varies for a wide range of readers, up to early teens:

Bookstart

This is a national scheme which helps families discover and enjoy the experience of sharing books. Every baby receives a Bookstart pack during their 8 - 12 month health check by their health visitor, and a Early Years pack during their 24 month health check - for free. There will be an invitation included for you to register your child in your local library. If you haven't received your Bookstart or Early Years pack, ask your health visitor.
