The Early Years Advisory Teacher Team
Giving Every Child the Best Start in Life
The Early Years Advisory Teacher Team is a group of experienced teachers who work to ensure that every young child - from birth to age five - gets the best possible start to their learning journey.
They support 65 Cylchoedd Meithrin (pre-schools) locations, Nurseries and childminders across Gwynedd where the team is available to offer training, resources and guidance to providers of Early Childhood Education, Flying Start and the providers who offer the two-year-old Childcare scheme.
The role of the Early Years Advisory Teacher (EYAT) is to support and lead aspects of nursery education and Flying Start within these settings.
How the Team supports your child’s early learning
They work closely with early years settings to help them provide the highest quality education and care. This includes:
- Helping staff develop their teaching and play activities so children can explore, discover, and learn new skills every day.
- Making sure all children are included, whatever their background, ability, or additional needs.
- Supporting children with special educational needs or disabilities (SEND) by offering specialist advice and strategies to ensure they receive the right help.
- Encouraging positive relationships between settings and families, so parents feel confident and involved in their child’s early education.
Why the work matters
The early years are precious time when children’s curiosity, language, and confidence grow rapidly. By working with early years professionals, the team helps to create joyful learning experiences that build firm foundations for school and life.
When families, early years settings, and advisory teachers work together, children benefit most — developing independence, a love of learning, and the skills they need to flourish.
