Gwynedd Local Development Plan Survey
This survey closed on the 24 March, 2026.
Cyngor Gwynedd has started the process of preparing a new Local Development Plan for the Gwynedd Local Planning Authority area (which is the area of Gwynedd located outside the Eryri National Park). The Plan will meet the housing, employment, social and environmental needs of Gwynedd residents from its adoption date until 2039.
Purpose of the survey
We were eager to hear your views on the issues that are important and relevant to you, and that can be addressed by the Local Development Plan. These issues encompass a wide range of social, economic, and environmental considerations.
Opinions were collected using an on-line survey. Paper copies of the survey were also available in Gwynedd libraries, Siop Gwynedd offices and via post upon request.
Survey period
13 February - 24 March 2026.
What will happen next?
Your responses will help us to design the Gwynedd Local Development Plan. Statutory consultation periods will follow throughout the process of preparing the Plan.
Following its adoption, the Plan will inform decisions on development proposals as well as addressing the needs and opportunities of the area. The main purpose of the Local Development Plan is to provide guidance on the types of development that is suitable in different locations.
In the meantime, and until the Gwynedd local Development Plan is adopted, the Anglesey and Gwynedd Joint Local Development Plan will continue to provide the local policy framework for decisions on planning applications in the Gwynedd Local Planning Authority area.
