Gwynedd Visitor Levy Consultation
Consultation period: 20 May - 15 July 2026
Purpose of the consultation
Following a decision by Cyngor Gwynedd’s Full Council meeting on 14 May 2026, Cyngor Gwynedd is moving forward to consult on the possibility of introducing a Visitor Levy in the county.
We would like to hear your views as residents, businesses, visitors or stakeholders so that they can be considered in our discussions.
Cyngor Gwynedd has not yet made a decision on whether to introduce a levy, but the documents on this page explain how a Levy could be implemented locally.
What is the Visitor Levy?
The levy would be a daily charge paid by people staying overnight in visitor accommodation, such as hotels, holiday cottages, bed and breakfasts, and campsites. Its aim is to support communities, culture and the Welsh language, businesses, facilities, and the local environment by reinvesting the income back into the area.
