Some areas of Harlech are being targeted to increase how much food waste is collected as part of the weekly service, for a period of three months from September to December.
This is one area in Gwynedd where we are looking at a new and different way of raising awareness about the importance of recycling food waste weekly. The Recycling Team will record data about what is put out for collection, carry out an awareness campaign as well as measuring how much food is collected.
The Recycling Team will make every effort to discuss the benefits with all the residents in the target area, as well as working towards answering specific questions about recycling. For those who are yet to start using the weekly food waste service, it can be an opportunity to learn more about what happens to the food waste, as wel as offering practical advice on how to best use this service.
For the time being the Team will be concentrating on domestic properties. Businesses can contract Cyngor Gwynedd’s Commercial Waste Service to get started with food waste recycling.
As part of the campaign the Recycling Team can arrange the receptacles to ensure that residents in the target area can use the food recycling service.
The Team will be concentrating on areas in Harlech and will continue to plan for other areas, with information about the campaign in Harlech and the next steps to follow.
