Warm Spaces Fund

Welsh Government has announced a support package to provide warm, safe and welcoming spaces FREE OF CHARGE for members of the community during periods of cold weather or cost‑of‑living pressures.

The purpose of the fund is to:

  • Support organisations that provide warm spaces across Gwynedd
  • Ensure free access to important community venues
  • Provide places for socialising and reducing loneliness
  • Provide support on cost‑of‑living matters

More information

All projects must:

  • Offer FREE access (no requirement to buy food or drink)
  • Be accessible and inclusive
  • Operate safely (risk assessment, safeguarding)

The fund cannot be used to:

  • Generate income
  • Pay for commercial activities
  • Fund services that charge users

See below the types of eligible costs that can be supported:

  • Heating and lighting costs
  • Hot and soft drinks
  • Staff and volunteer costs (where appropriate)
  • Additional insurance if required
  • Activities

Applications delivered in community centres or established venues, and run or supported by local volunteers, will be prioritised in the assessment process.

This is to support community cohesion, encourage community‑led initiatives, and ensure wider social value from the fund.

Accountability and Monitoring

The provision must be advertised as a free space with acknowledgement of the grant. A pack of “Warm Welcome” logo stickers will be provided for display at the venue to promote it as a Warm Welcome location.

Successful applicants will be required to provide the following information at the end of the scheme:

  • How much has been spent and what it has been spent on
  • The number of places/spaces supported
  • The activities within the spaces supported
  • How many people have used the spaces supported (monthly figures)
