Gwynedd Nature Partnership leads the way in protecting Gwynedd's nature and biodiversity

Press Release on behalf of The Gwynedd Nature Partnership
The Gwynedd Nature Partnership is celebrating seven years of impactful environmental action, bringing together communities, schools, and local organisations to protect and enhance biodiversity across the region.
Gwynedd Nature Partnership is a regional partner of the Local Nature Partnerships (LNP) Cymru scheme. LNPs operate in all counties of Wales and are an integral element in addressing the nature crisis in Wales. They provide biodiversity advice; maximise funding opportunities and collaborations; empower community groups to take action and target community engagement activities.
Over the last seven years, the Gwynedd Partnership, has launched a series of innovative projects aimed at reversing biodiversity loss and increasing engagement with nature across the county.
These projects range from establishing wildflower meadows on Council owned and managed land across the county, such as landfill sites and roadsides to providing support and funding to numerous community projects and promoting sustainable farming initiatives.
Lea Connelly Biodiversity Team Leader at Cyngor Gwynedd, said: "The Gwynedd Nature Partnership is an excellent example of how collaboration between councils, communities, and conservation groups can lead to meaningful change.
“One of our main priorities is to support projects that create and maintain habitats where nature can thrive and we’re proud to have worked with so many communities over these last two years.
“From big projects such as the transformation of the former Llwyn Isa landfill site in Clynnog Fawr, to the small initiatives such as providing equipment and support to Plas Hafan, Nefyn care home residents to plant their own potatoes. These projects are all important, not only to protect wildlife but also reconnect people with nature in their everyday lives."
The Partnership continues to develop the Gwynedd Nature Recovery Action Plan, which will guide future efforts to protect key habitats and species, address climate pressures, and build ecological resilience across the county. The plan will be published soon.
