The winner of this year's Coleg Cymraeg Cyngor Gwynedd Scholarship is Elan Roberts from Bangor.
Elan, who is 18 years old and a former pupil at Ysgol Tryfan, will receive a scholarship worth £3,000 to study Primary Education Studies at Bangor University.
The scholarship is awarded annually to support a student who lives in Gwynedd and who chooses to study 100% of their university degree course through the medium of Welsh.
Elan said:
I've wanted to be a teacher since I was a little girl. I was influenced by my mother as she is a teacher, and through her, I have had an insight into the difference a good Welsh teacher can make to the lives of young people."
I'm really looking forward to starting my course soon, and I'm extremely grateful for the scholarship. The extra funds will be incredibly useful as I begin my new chapter at university.”
The scholarship was established jointly between Cyngor Gwynedd and the Coleg Cymraeg.
