Over the next few weeks, Cyngor Gwynedd will hold a series of ‘Tai ar Daith’ (Housing on Tour) events throughout the county to share information and advice on housing matters with residents.
Following the popularity of last year’s events, Tai ar Daith will visit Blaenau Ffestiniog, Botwnnog in Pen Llŷn, Bala and Bangor this year, starting with the first event in Ysgol y Moelwyn, Blaenau Ffestiniog on 8 October from 4-6pm.
The aim of the roadshow is to share information and raise awareness of the housing schemes available for Gwynedd residents to ensure they have access to affordable, high quality homes in their own communities.
During the events, representatives from the Council and key partners from housing associations will be on hand to provide information and expert advice. This will include details of grants and loans available to help Gwynedd residents buy a home, projects to increase the housing supply across Gwynedd, and projects to tackle homelessness in the county, among many other things.
Officers will be available to help with any housing-related matter, from filling in forms to discussing application, ensuring that every attendee receives support tailored to their personal needs.
A wide range of Council services will be represented at the event, including:
- Housing schemes
- Homelessness
- Housing One Stop Shop – available to discuss social and affordable housing applications
- Empty homes
- Home energy advice
Housing associations will also be present, alongside partners involved in housing projects in specific areas.
These events fall under the banner of the Council’s Housing Action Plan - worth over £200 million - to tackle the county’s housing shortage and ensure that the people of Gwynedd have access to suitable, high-quality, and affordable homes that improve their quality of life.
Councillor Paul Rowlinson, Cyngor Gwynedd’s Cabinet Member for Housing and Property, says:
Tai ar Daith has been a success over the past two years, and we are very pleased to have the opportunity once again to go out into our communities in Gwynedd and speak to people face-to-face about any housing concerns they may have.
We have organised these events to give everyone the chance to speak to the Council about housing and related matters, such as reducing energy bills and so on. I want to make it as easy as possible for you to discuss your housing needs with us – whether you are homeless or at risk of losing your home, or if you are looking to rent a social or affordable home, get a loan to buy a home, receive help to bring an empty property back into use, build a new home, and much more.
We remain fully committed to tackling the housing crisis in Gwynedd, and listening to our communities is an important part of that. So, if you have a question or would like to know more about the help available, please come along for a chat. There may well be more help available from the Council and its partners than you realise.”
