The Caernarfon Library service will temporarily move to Oriel Pendeitsh, Caernarfon, in November to allow significant redevelopment work worth over £1 million to begin on the library building.
The move marks an exciting time for the library as work on the project begins which will upgrade the existing building to be a modern, accessible and sustainable facility for the community into the future.
The library will close for a week from 9 to 14 November in order to move the provision. During this time a book return box will be available outside the building so users can continue to return items.
From 16 November, library services will operate from Oriel Pendeitsh, which is located in the town centre opposite the castle. The service will remain there while the redevelopment work progresses. The project is expected to be completed by early 2028.
Many of the library's usual services will remain available, including borrowing and ordering books and using public computers, however, provision will be more limited during this period due to the reduced space available at the temporary location.

Councillor Medwyn Hughes, Cyngor Gwynedd's Cabinet Member for Economy and Community, said:
This is a significant investment in the future of Caernarfon Library which will provide a modern and accessible facility for the community for years to come.
I would like to thank users for their patience during this time. We look forward to seeing the benefits this development will bring to the community."
The Gwynedd Libraries Service will be holding an information session in the coming weeks at Oriel Pendeitsh to share more details about the developments and give residents the opportunity to ask questions about the plans.
Information on opening hours, services available and the information session will be shared on the Cyngor Gwynedd website www.gwynedd.llyw.cymru/libraries and on Gwynedd Libraries' social media channels.
