Children under school age
Whatever the language of your home, if you’re keen to give your children another language there are many things you can do to ensure they get the best start, even before they reach school age.
Mudiad Meithrin is responsible for the Ti a Fi groups designed for parents with children under 2 ½ years – and Cylch Meithrin, a nursery for children between 2 and 5 years old (pre-school age).

School age children
Being able to speak more than one language can be a great help for the mind to develop. Whatever your children may do in the future, work or otherwise, learning and speaking another language can help develop specific parts of the brain that increase creativity and problem solving.

Gwynedd Language Immersion Centres
Gwynedd has Language Immersion Centres for children. Immersion in Welsh helps learners entering Welsh-medium education at a later stage (typically after the age of seven) and pupils for whom Welsh may not have been part of their daily routine, to gain the skills and confidence needed to continue their learning through Welsh
Digital Resources
The digital resources available to children are also forever increasing, with a range of fun learning apps including the Hwb website (education resources by the Welsh Government that are used in schools).
