  • Temporary Prohibition or Restriction on roads (i.e Road Closure) 3 days or less: £1,124

Special events

Temporary Prohibition or Restriction on roads for Special Events:

  • Order: £2,669,
  • Notice: £1,124

Please note that as of April 2024 the following will apply:

  • Community event (free for members of the public to attend): No Fee
  • Events organised by Registered Charities: No Fee
  • Events where there is a fee for people to attend or participate: £1,124

Unauthorised Temporary Prohibition or Restriction on roads – current application fee plus £1,198 each subsequent day

  1. The Applicant must:

(a) Give at least 8 weeks notice if the temporary prohibition or restriction is more than 3 days

(b) Give at least 20 working days notice if the temporary prohibition or restriction is 3 days or less

(c) Agree to meet the Councils costs as specified above.

(d) Provide, erect, and maintain the required traffic and diversion signs including advance notice boards.

(e) Undertaker to inform all parties known to be directly affected by the restriction by letter drop.

Failure to comply with the conditions above will render the closure unauthorised, and could make you liable to the unauthorised temporary prohibition or restriction fee as noted above.

  1. Emergency Prohibition or Restriction (i.e. Road Closure)

Will not be granted for any form of pre-planned works or events. They will only be granted if there is an immediate risk of danger to the public or serious damage to the highway.

  1. The provision, operation and maintenance of all signs, lighting and guarding of the works is the responsibility of the applicant and shall be in accordance with the requirements of the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991, “Safety and Street Works and Works” Code of Practice and read in conjunction with the Traffic Signs Manual, Chapter 8.
  2. The completion and submitting of the application does not, in any way, guarantee that Cyngor Gwynedd will proceed with the application or that a temporary restriction will be granted under the relevant powers.
  3. Utility companies may be required to compensate the transportation services if it is believed that additional costs will be incurred as a direct consequence of their road closure.
