What is compassionate leadership?
Compassionate leadership is a way of leading people that focuses on four behaviours:
- attending to needs
- understanding
- empathising
- helping.
It’s a commitment to give the right support to people in our teams so they can respond effectively to challenges and thrive in their work.
You don’t have to be a manager to lead with compassion. Anyone at any level can use the four behaviours.
When we lead with compassion, we put staff well-being and development first.
This means the people we lead are working in a culture that’s inclusive, effective and positive.

The “All About Dementia” awareness course covers the foundation knowledge for anyone involved in dementia care. Focusing on the practical issues of caring for a person with dementia, we look at the ‘retained’ versus the ‘lost’ abilities. Our foundation course is built around best practice with communication being key. Delegates will gain insight into the techniques to use for optimal care compliance. We look at Person Centred Care, and the unique differences between the stages of the dementia journey.

Dementia is a word that everyone knows, and for most of us, this word is feared. As with many things, we believe this is due to the lack of knowledge and understanding of dementia and this means that most people are just not prepared for it. You can help change this lack of knowledge and help shape the future of dementia care.
Throughout this video online course, you will complete multiple modules on various topics including definitions, communication, changes that can be made, body language, and more. There are also experiential training modules and finally a summary and conclusion that will make you understand that completing the course is just the start of your journey.
We want you to see what it is like to experience the difficulties people with dementia have. We take away the ability to speak, see, hear, and use body language to force people to find new ways of communicating, just like those with dementia must. It is not easy but the first-hand experience of feeling the same isolation, frustration, and anxiety as those that have dementia is key to understanding that communication is at the very heart of dementia care.
Completing the course means that you will become a registered Dementia Interpreter Level 1. You get access to the Dementia Interpreters forum where you create your profile to start your journey on helping translate the Language of Dementia.

“HAVING a dad who was diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s in his 50s, I thought I had a reasonable understanding of the disease and how it affects those who have it.
But having taken part in a virtual dementia tour led by training2care, I realised I actually knew very little about the fears and limitations faced by those with the condition.
