2 Year old Childcare

Families living within certain postcodes are eligible to receive up to 12.5 hours of free Childcare from the term after a child's 2nd birthday.

The 12.5 hours of care will be offered over 5 days, which will be 5 morning or afternoon sessions.

When can a child receive 2 Year old Childcare?

A child will be able to attend the childcare the term after they turn 2 years old.

When you apply you will be asked to upload documents (scan/image) as proof of your child’s age and address. Documents required include:

  • Your child’s Birth Certificate
  • A current Council Tax Bill OR a utility bill dated within the last 3 months.

In exceptional circumstance you may be eligible for the 2 Year Old Childcare:

Additional childcare places will be offered to areas on the outskirts of the 2 yr old childcare expansion areas:

  • Seiont 2 LSOA – also Caernarfon Post code’s and Bontnewydd.
  • Hirael, Hendre and Dewi LSOA’s - also Bangor city postcodes Penrhosgarnedd, and the village of Tal y bont to be prioritised.
  • Tremadog /Porthmadog East LSOA’s – also LSOA Porthmadog West which includes Borth y Gest and Morfa Bychan.
  • Bala LSOA - Outskirts of LSOA.
  • Barmouth LSOA - Outskirts of LSOA.
  • Trawsfynydd LSOA – also Penrhyndeudraeth and Minffordd villages.

The family must be claimants of one or more of the benefits listed below:-

Universal Credit; Housing Benefit; Childcare element of Working Tax Credit; Carers Allowance; Severe disablement allowance; Long term incapacity benefit; Employment and support allowance; National insurance credits on the grounds of incapacity for work or limited capability for work.
