Electric shuttle bus now available for community use

A social enterprise in the Ogwen Valley has received a grant enabling it to buy an electric shuttle bus for the benefit of local residents.

Partneriaeth Ogwen successfully applied to the European Fund, and the 9-seater bus has now been delivered.

During April to October the bus will be used to carry passengers from Bethesda to Llyn Ogwen and back, making three consecutive trips every two hours.

In addition to funding the purchase of the bus, the grant has enabled the employment of three local drivers who will start work in July.

In the low season the bus and drivers will be available to support community groups and initiatives to transport local residents to various activities. The bus has already been used by the local community, including a trip to the Denbighshire Urdd Eisteddfod and a day out in Beaumaris for older residents.

Future plans include giving local sports clubs, schools and environmental organisations, such as the Cwm Idwal Partnership, opportunities to transport volunteers to the area in an eco-friendly vehicle.

The fixed Bethesda to Llyn Ogwen service launches on 21 July, running daily except on Wednesdays when the bus will not operate. For full details of the timetable, or for information about hiring the electric bus for community use, please email cludiant@ogwen.org or call 01248 602131.
