Request Help with Paying for Care

If you or a loved one needs assistance with paying for care, we’re here to help. Whether you're looking for support at home, residential care, or other types of social care, there may be financial assistance available depending on your circumstances. Below, you’ll find the steps to request help and the options that may be available to you.

Who Can Get Help?

Financial support for care is assessed based on:

  • Your needs – A care needs assessment will determine the type and level of care required.
  • Your finances – A financial assessment will look at your income, savings, and assets to see if you're eligible for assistance.

Steps to Request Help

  1. Contact Us Reach out to our Adult Social Care team to start the process. You can call us on 01234 567890.
  2. Care Needs Assessment One of our social care professionals will arrange to assess your needs. This could involve a visit to your home or a phone consultation, depending on your situation.
  3. Financial Assessment If your care needs assessment shows that you require support, we will then carry out a financial assessment. This looks at your savings, income, and any property you own. The assessment will determine whether you qualify for full or partial financial help.
  4. Review Your Options After the assessments, we’ll discuss the support available to you. This could include:
    • Direct Payments – Receive funds to arrange your own care.
    • Care at Home – Help with paying for services like home carers or equipment.
    • Residential Care – Assistance with care home fees if needed.
  5. Ongoing Support Your situation will be reviewed regularly to make sure you’re getting the right level of support as your needs or financial situation change.

What If I Don’t Qualify for Help?

If you don’t qualify for financial assistance, we can still provide guidance on managing your care costs. You may also be able to access other services like:

  • Deferred payment schemes
  • Benefit entitlements
  • Voluntary organisations that offer financial advice
