Following a comprehensive reorganisation process, a number of educational changes have been implemented in the catchment.
Following a significant investment of £5.4million a new area school has been established in the Bro Dysynni area, Ysgol Craig y Deryn to serve children from the Bryncrug, Llanegryn, Llwyngwril and Abergynolwyn areas in September 2013 under the leadership of Jennifer Bradbury, Headteacher. Significant work and effort has been made to ensure that the area's children have a new school of excellent standard. Bryncrug, Llanegryn and Llwyngwril schools have closed on 31 August 2013. Abergynolwyn school has closed since 31st March 2011. Children who live in these areas are automatically within the new Craig y Deryn School Catchment area.
Significant improvements have also been made at Ysgol Penybryn, Tywyn. Ysgol Aberdyfi officially closed on 31st of August 2013. Children who live in the Aberdyfi area are automatically within the new Penybryn school catchment area.
Ysgol Dyffryn Dulas (Corris) and Pennal schools have now become a federation and these schools have also received significant improvement works.
