An overview of the classes

Aerobics

Aerobics is an instructor led class. It will improve your stamina, strength and the efficiency of your heart and lungs, whilst also improving hand/eye co-ordination.  Aerobics classes involve simple moves performed to high energy music .

Aqua Aerobics

This invigorating class held in the pool improves cardiovascular conditioning, muscular strength and endurance using the buoyancy and resistance of the water to give you a safe, effective, fun and "no sweat" workout. It is also a low impact workout, so you are getting a great workout without pounding your joints, ligaments and tendons.  Ideal for individuals on a rehabilitation programme or recovering from injury. 

Bootcamp

This military style workout is a mix of cardiovascular and resistance exercises which combine bodyweight exercises with free weight exercises. It will help you to improve your balance, strength, flexibility as well as muscular endurance.  This workout is open to all fitness levels and is a high calorie burner. 

Boxercise

A Boxercise class focuses on both upper and lower body conditioning, toning your arms, chest abs and legs.  It improves cardiovascular fitness and considered a perfect training workout.  Also great as a stress reliever and as an aid to get rid of that built up aggression! 

Chair Aerobics

Chair aerobics offers a safe and practical alternative to traditional forms of exercise. It is ideal for you if you are new to exercise, returning after a long break, or if you have difficulty standing for prolonged periods.  It is a fun, convenient, energetic way to burn calories, improve muscle tone, increase range of motion and feel fitter and healthier.

Circuit Conditioning

Circuit conditioning is a class with multiple exercise stations that will focus on muscular endurance, core strength, cardiovascular fitness, and flexibility. Circuits will always be a popular class and will give you a fantastic calorie busting workout.

Core Conditioning

A class which targets your entire torso.  A strong core leads to strong, fit body that will be less prone to injury.  This class is a wonderful complement to all group fitness classes.

Fitball

A core strengthening class designed to improve range of motion, strength, stability,  co-ordination and balance. Fitball provides an excellent workout which will result in a stronger core, improved posture and better body alignment.

Functional Training

Functional training is a method of training that strives to get your body stable, in balance and capable of performing at its peak.  Functional training incorporates moving in all positions (straight ahead, side/side, and turning), using different bases of support (2 legs, stagger stance, one leg), and implementing unstable environments (bosu ball) to challenge the muscles that control your joints.

HIIT

Short, intense, fast and powerful! HIIT is high intensity interval training that pushes you to work as hard as you can to increase cardiovascular capacity and burn calories during and after the workout due to the 'afterburn' effect. This workout has huge fat burn, helps work towards a leaner body and improves muscular endurance.

Indoor Cycling

The indoor group cycling class will help you get fit fast, taking your fitness to the next level. Stationary bikes provide a non-impact workout. The low impact nature reduces the stress on your knees and feet, and allows you to work with a resistance level that suits you. With entrancing upbeat music and motivational instructors to set the pace, indoor cycling is a great way to get in shape.

Kettlebells

The kettlebell is a cannonball shaped weight with which you perform whole body exercises to burn as many calories as possible in the shortest amount of time.  Ideal for improving muscle strength and toning.

Ladies Only Fitness Room Session

During this workout you will learn how to most effectively use various equipment in the gym. You will also learn how to properly structure a workout so when it comes to exercising by yourself you will get the most out of it. 

Light Circuit Conditioning (50+, Gold)

Designed with the senior adult in mind, this class utilises multiple stations that will improve your strength, stamina, and flexibility.

Pilates

Pilates is a great form of exercise for your body. The combination of core conditioning, stretching and breathing exercises will tone legs and arms. Pilates focuses on proper alignment and posture, and as a result tones your abs and strengthens the back. It promotes the co-ordination of the body, mind and spirit. It suits everyone, as it is low intensity and can be altered to suit different levels.  

Pump FX

Pump FX is a complete body workout. By using barbells and adjustable weights, this class will help you to improve your muscular strength & endurance. This class is designed to burn body fat and tone muscles, all levels of fitness are welcome to this class.

Spin Combo

If you are looking to effectively train every part of your body in every way give this class a shot! We start with a traditional group cycle class to challenge your heart and define your lower body, then get into boot camp mode by getting off the bike and moving your body in all different directions with different types of exercises! No coordination or rhythm required - just a big heart and passion for fitness!

Suspension Training

Suspension training is a type of training that uses gravity and your own body weight to build strength, power, balance, coordination, flexibility, core and joint stability, all while preventing injuries, and increasing bone density.

Tabata

Tabata is a new form of high intensity interval training designed to get your heart rate up to a anaerobic zone for a short period of time. This type of workout helps you burn more calories during and post workout. The work out follows a 20 second high intensity period followed by a 10 second rest period.

X Biking

The Trixter X-1000 X-Bikes are designed to simulate the use of mountain bikes in an indoor environment. The patented X-Bar handle bars, with 7 levels of resistance, move realistically to ensure the upper body and core are also recruited. Research has shown a workout on the X-bike burns 55% more calories compared to a fixed wheel indoor bike.

Yoga

Yoga is an ancient form of exercise that helps boost physical and mental wellbeing. Classical yoga postures, modified where necessary, help us to regain or maintain strength and suppleness of the muscles and joints and improve the functioning of all the body systems. Suitable for beginners and those with more experience.
