Tŷ Gwynedd – Coed Mawr, Bangor

As part of our plans to provide 1,500 affordable homes by 2027 we are embarking on a new building programme called the Ty Gwynedd Project

Our first proposed site is the site of the former school at Coed Mawr in Bangor.

During March this year we will be consulting on our plans. You can view the plans and take part in the consultation by visiting our agent's website:

We are proposing to build 10 intermediate affordable homes to buy or rent for local people which will adhere to our design principles: Affordable, Adaptable, Sustainable, Energy Efficient and Healthy.

We are currently proposing to build 6 three bedroom houses and 4 two bedroom houses for the intermediate market, namely for local people who are not eligible for social housing but cannot afford to buy or rent on the open market either.

For local people who are not eligible for social housing but cannot buy on the open market either. See the eligibility criteras and register your interest.

When the houses become available in 2023 eligible applicants registered with Tai Teg will be able to apply to buy or rent one of the properties in Coed Mawr.

Applicants who have lived for 5 years or more in the Dewi, Hirael, Pentir and Hendre wards will initially be able to apply. There will then be an opportunity for applicants from other wards in Bangor, namely Menai, Deiniol, Knight, Hirael, Garth and Arllechwedd, and so on.

There is now an opportunity for the local community and statutory consultees to comment on the plans. We will evaluate those comments and consider whether our plans need any modification before submitting a planning application.

We are currently planning to complete the first homes on the site in 2023.

If you are interested in living in one of the Tŷ Gwynedd houses on the Coed Mawr site, you can find out if you are likely to qualify by looking at the Tai Teg and Registration criteria. When the houses become available eligible applicants will be able to apply for them.

We are also in the process of planning further sites across the County with further information on proposed locations to follow over the coming months. Keep an eye out for them by following us on Facebook and Twitter.

If you think you are eligible you can register with Tai Teg now and you will be notified when one of the properties can be applied for.
