Wales Rural Forum meeting in Dolgellau
A meeting of the Wales Rural Forum arranged through the Welsh Local Government Association was recently held at Gwynedd Council’s Chamber in Penarlag, Dolgellau. Representatives from rural authorities from across Wales were present and discussed the proposed Growth Plan for Mid Wales, along with other issues relating to the rural economy in Wales.
Councillor Dyfrig Siencyn, Gwynedd Council Leader and Member for North Dolgellau is co-chair with Councillor Rosemarie Harris, Leader of Powys Council.
Councillor Siencyn said: “It was wonderful to welcome the forum back to Dolgellau for the first time in a long while. I believe that staging the event here shows that the forum extends to all parts of Wales. Rural Wales faces the most uncertain period in a generation as we face up to lose European funding which has been so important to the agricultural industry and to rural regeneration schemes. As a result, it is important that the Forum is a strong and robust voice for countryside matters and contributes to the discussion of developing a new system of rural support.”
