Spectacular fire garden comes to Caernarfon Castle

Caernarfon will set the night sky ablaze as a fiery performance comes to the town’s castle for the first time on Friday, September 30.

The Welsh Government’s historic environment service, (Cadw), has partnered with Walk the Plank, Galeri Caernarfon and Gwynedd Council to provide a spectacular evening of stunts, demonstrations and dazzling visual performances at and around Caernarfon Castle.

One of a series of themed events being organised at Cadw sites during Wales’s Year of Adventure, Caernarfon Alight will see the town’s waterfront brought to life with a torch procession and live music performance.

Paying visitors will also get the chance to explore the castle fire garden to see fiery sculptures, flame-tipped trees and exploding colossal art sculptures – all set in the shadows of a stunning World Heritage Site. Visitors will be able to see the fire garden at the castle until Saturday, 01 October 2016. Tickets can be booked online here.

Ken Skates, Cabinet Secretary for Economy and Infrastructure, said: “Wales’s Year of Adventure has seen a packed programme of exciting events held across our historic sites.

“From circus shows and beer festivals to rugby screenings and a national tour of Cadw’s one-tonne dragon!

“Caernarfon Alight is another exciting first for us and I’m sure it will create yet another unique way of encouraging people to explore and enjoy our amazing heritage.”

Caernarfon Alight will start when Mr Wilson’s Second Liners Street Band lead a torch lit procession from Galeri at sunset.

They will make their way through the town and down to the river in time to see the live music performance at the waterfront and a fiery show at the Slate Quay.

Ticket holders can then go on to explore the blazing wonders of Caernarfon Castle’s fire garden.

Advance tickets are available from Galeri box office on 01286 685 222 or via Galeri’s website, priced from £5.00 for a child entry and up to £22.00 for a family ticket. A limited number of tickets will be available on the door of Caernarfon Castle. More information on Caernarfon Alight is available on Cadw’s website.
