Welsh Government Lockdown Business Fund – opens for applications 28/10/2020

Date: 28/10/2020

Gwynedd businesses urged to register or miss out on the opportunity

Gwynedd Council is urging the county’s businesses to register for Welsh Government financial support that is available to help companies affected by the current Coronavirus firebreak.

Funding will provide financial assistance to businesses facing operational and financial challenges because of the national lockdown which is in place across Wales between 23 October and 9 November 2020.

The fund will be open to applications from 28 October and will close at 5p.m. on 20 November 2020 or when the fund is fully committed.

Councillor Ioan Thomas, Gwynedd Council Cabinet Member for Finance said:

“The fund will be open for applications until 5pm on 20 November unless it is fully committed. Therefore it is vital that Gwynedd businesses register for the support they are entitled to immediately as it is administered  on a first come first served basis.

Councillor Gareth Thomas, Gwynedd Council Cabinet Member for Economy added:

“We appreciate that the business community is facing a challenging time at present. It is therefore very important that businesses register to receive this financial support from the Welsh Government – and to do so as soon as they can.

“If you run a business in Gwynedd, I’d urge you to make sure you receive the latest updates by signing-up to a regular business bulletin which highlights the latest developments. You can sign-up to receive the newsletter on the Council website: www.gwynedd.llyw.cymru/businessCOVID19”

The aim of the Welsh Government funding is  to support businesses with cash-flow support to help them survive the consequences of the restrictions. It will be administered by Local Authorities.  Further information can be found at https://businesswales.gov.wales/coronavirus-advice/lockdown-business-fund.

Further financial assistance can be sought through the third phase of Welsh Government’s Economic Resilience Fund which also opened on 28 October.  Further information available at https://fundchecker.businesswales.gov.wales/erfphase3
