Over 450 colourful Creativity Kits have been created for children and families in Gwynedd by the Gwynedd Council staff of Museum and Arts Services. The packs will be full of arts and crafts material as well as a brand new creative activities book available for families in Bethesda, Blaenau Ffestiniog and Deiniolen. Y Dref Werdd, Partneriaeth Ogwen and Ysgol Gwaun Gynfi will be helping to distribute the Creative Kits ready for the half term holidays.
Councillor Gareth Thomas, Gwynedd Council Cabinet Member over Economy and Community said: “The aim of this scheme is to support creativity at home during the difficult period of the COVID-19 pandemic where it isn’t possible for communities to come together for arts activities. With Social Distancing and other strict restrictions effecting everyone, trying to continue to sustain art activities is extremely important for the wellbeing of our communities.”
These Creativity Kits include a purposeful booklet full of ideas and inspiration to keep the children and families busy during the half term week, Halloween and beyond. The activities include art tasks, puzzles, craft activities, games and exiting creative ideas provided by a variety of partners and organisations in Gwynedd. The bags also include art materials and a copy of the Looking after myself booklet by the Gwynedd Council Wellbeing Team and contributions from the LleCHI scheme, so there’s plenty of interesting and useful content to keep everyone busy.
This is the second time that this service has been offered, back in the summer holidays we supplied over 330 packs for the citizens of Maesgeirchen in Bangor. Unfortunately Bangor is in lockdown again, so we’ll send them an electronic copy of the latest Creativity Kit booklet for them to enjoy and continue to use their arts and crafts materials from home.
Councillor Thomas added: “Thank you very much to everyone that has contributed towards the packs and to our community partners for distributing them all to Gwynedd citizens. We’re looking forward to seeing the creations.”
We’re encouraging everyone that receives a pack to share their art work on social media by using the hashtag #CreativityKits. We hope that these packs will be of support to Gwynedd citizens and contribute positively towards the wellbeing and enjoyment of children and families during these difficult times.
