Date: 16/11/2017

With more Gwynedd residents than ever now making the most of what the internet has to offer, it is now possible to access a growing range of Council services online at any time.

By opening an account on the Council website – - residents can request a whole host of services when it’s convenient for them for a much more cost-effective price for Gwynedd tax payers.

It is now possible to purchase a garden waste collection, request new bins, arrange a bulky waste collection, check the bin collection day, pay for primary school dinners, search for local planning applications, request a place for a child at primary school, apply for a job with the Council and many more using the online system.

As well as making it easier for the county’s residents to safely access a host of Council services, the online system will also deliver significant savings for the authority.

Councillor Mair Rowlands, Gwynedd Council Deputy Leader said: “More and more Gwynedd residents do their shopping or banking online and you can now also access a wide-range of Council services too.

“The new online system is safe, quick, easy to use and means that we as a Council can speed-up the process of delivering services for the county’s residents compared to more traditional processes.

“It makes the process quicker for residents, but it also means that members of the public can access services 24 hours a day and that they can track any request they make online.

“With the cost of delivering services significantly lower online – 25 pence on the website, compared with £3.90 on the phone and £8 face to face – the system will also lead to significant savings for the Council is more and more residents decide to move over to use the convenient services available online.

“If you don’t already use the internet, Council staff are on-hand to help you to set-up an account. Visit your local Siop Gwynedd, or you can attend one of the Digital Gwynedd sessions held across the county to provide practical online assistance.”
