Following the announcement on the easing of Covid-19 restrictions, Gwynedd Libraries are now open to the people of Gwynedd by prior appointment.

Residents are able to access the public computers and come in to the library to browse and choose their own books. Libraries are also able to offer a printing and photocopying service.

However, to access these services, everyone will need to contact their library to make an appointment. Library staff will then book you a 45 minute slot to use a computer or a 15 -20 minute slot for choosing books.

To ensure safety and to keep to the social distancing regulations, slots for computer use and browsing will be kept separate. Contact the library to book a computer slot even if you want to use your own laptop to do some work.

For the safety of staff and customers as well, residents are encouraged to use the hand sanitizer on entry to the premises and are asked to consent to share their contact details as part of the Contact Tracing requirements, as a condition of coming into the building and using the Library service.

The libraries will continue to offer the click and collect service and you can also request a book pack selected for you by library staff. These options have proved very popular with users. A home delivery option will continue to be on-offer for anyone, for whatever reason, who is unable to visit their library to collect items.

Councillor Gareth Thomas, Gwynedd Council's Cabinet Member for Libraries, said:

“The people of Gwynedd have missed going to their local library during the lockdowns and I'm sure many will be delighted to see them re-open under new arrangements.

“Of course, safety arrangements will be in place to keep library visitors and staff safe but this is an important step.

“We will continue to offer the click and collect service and you can also request a book pack of your choice from library staff. These options have proved very popular with library users.

“The service also continues to offer a home delivery option for anyone, for whatever reason, who is unable to visit their library to collect items.”

Full details of opening hours and service options are available on the library pages on the Gwynedd Council website: www.gwynedd.llyw.cymru/library

Fines are not charged and books are automatically renewed for the time being, so no-one has to worry about books being returned late or within a specified time.

Remember also that you can join Gwynedd Libraries to borrow e-books and e-books as well as e-magazines, in Welsh and English, free of charge.
