With more and more homes and businesses in Gwynedd accessing superfast broadband,
through the Digital Gwynedd project the Council and its partners are working to ensure that residents and local initiatives have the right skills to make the best use of this opportunity.
Superfast broadband enables multipledevices to be online at the same time. That means you can be watching films, downloading music, learning online, and keeping in touch with family and friends - all withoutdisrupting the internet connection. So far around 80% of Gwynedd homes and businesses can choose to access superfast broadband, with this figure set to rise to 90% by the end of the year as the Welsh Government’s Superfast Cymru programme extends to benefit all areas of Gwynedd.
Councillor Mandy Williams-Davies, Cabinet Member for Economy and Community said:
“We want to ensure that everyone in Gwynedd has the same opportunity to benefit from technology and the internet as residents of larger cities. As a Council, we’re eager to equip people and businesses withthe skills and information and aim to rise the percentage of homes and businesses that can choose to access superfastbroadband, so that they can make the mostof the online opportunities,”
“For example, for those who are out of work, the internet can be an invaluable tool for job hunting, and can be an opportunity for smaller businesses to reduce paperwork and collect information about their market, as well as gaining new customers.”
