This year an open theme was set for the annual Open Art exhibition at STORIEL. With an excellent response a diverse range of framed artworks filled the gallery walls along with a range of ceramic pieces. A painting in oils by Dorothy M.Williams was awarded the Selector’s Choice.  Eight other artworks also received commendation.

As the exhibition draws to a close we can announce the winner of the work receiving the most public votes during this year’s exhibition to receive the People’s Choice prize.

The People’s Choice Prize 2019 of £100, donated by the Friends of STORIEL, is awarded to Donna Jones for her painting in acrylic, ‘The Purple Sky’. Donna is a local artist from Bangor who recently took up painting again over the last three years. As an artist, she has a strong passion for the scenery along the coastline of North Wales, which was the inspiration for ‘The Purple Sky’.

Voted a close second was a work in watercolour and pastel by Brenda Hughes, ‘Llyn Peninsula’. We thank everyone who took part by voting for their favourite.

The exhibition closes at STORIEL on Saturday 15th of June.
