Have Your Say on Harlech
In response to a number of key threats and risks facing Harlech, Gwynedd Council with the support of strategic and local partners is seeking views on how to maximise opportunities in Harlech.
Known for its world class heritage at Harlech castle, its Championship golf course at Royal St David’s, its outstanding coastline as well as aerospace and space technology opportunities at Llanbedr airfield development, the town now needs a joint vision and series of proposals.
To help shape this vision and ideas for the town, a consultation event has been organised for Wednesday, 26 July. From 11am to 7pm at the town’s Memorial Hall on Twtil, just down from the Castle, consultants will share ideas on ways to better announce the town, create a better town centre experience as well as ideas for sustaining local facilities and how Harlech can become a year-round destination.
Councillor Ioan Thomas, Gwynedd Council Cabinet Member for Economic Development said, “Investment in 2016 at Harlech Castle in a new visitor centre, enhanced accommodation and bridge to the Castle has been welcomed and is showing immediate benefits. But there are other opportunities we need to further realise to benefit the local community and to the town as a whole destination. We welcome people to come along to the consultation and tell us their priorities for action.”
Local Councillor for Harlech, Freya Bentham added: “Everyone who lives and works in Harlech wants the very best for the area. This project aims to bring the views of local people and the relevant authorities together so that we can make the most of the regeneration opportunities for Harlech. I urge everyone who is interested in the future of Harlech to come along to the drop-in event on Wednesday, 26 July to share their views.”
This project is supported by Gwynedd Council and the Welsh Government.
