Cyngor Gwynedd consults on a Public Participation Strategy

Date: 10/01/2023

 A consultation by Cyngor Gwynedd is giving local people to opportunity to help ensure that the county’s residents and businesses, together with partners and other organisations, have the opportunity to be part of decisions about public services.

The Council has drawn up a Public Participation Strategy which includes information about:

• how the Council raises local people's awareness of its work;

• how to become a Councillor and the work of elected members;

• how people can find out about the Council's decisions.

Before adopting the Strategy, the Council wants to hear the public's opinion on these points.

All comments submitted regarding the questionnaire will receive full consideration and form part of the report which will be presented to the Cabinet on 14 February 2023 and the Full Council on 2 March 2023.

The Leader of Cyngor Gwynedd, Councillor Dyfrig Siencyn, said:

"The aim of the Strategy is to encourage people to take part in the decision-making process and to highlight the arrangements which the Council has planned to ensure a culture of partnership with the public.

"By taking part in the consultation, people will make a real difference to the way the Council engages with the residents, businesses and communities of Gwynedd. This is why I would urge people to take a few minutes to read the strategy and fill in this short questionnaire.

"This is just the beginning of the journey – this is our first strategy, we expect it to evolve and improve over time as we learn more good practice and as technology develops further."

The public consultation on the Gwynedd Public Participation Strategy will be open between 6-23 January 2023 and is available online at Participation Strategy Consultation (llyw.cymru)

Paper copies will also be available in your library and local Siop Gwynedd. If you would like a paper copy by post, contact the Council by e-mailing GwasanaethauDemocratiaeth@gwynedd.llyw.cymru or calling 01766 771000.
