Gwynedd Council has secured a grant of £150,000 in order to raise the standard of a further 5 public toilets across the county.

Funding from the Rural Community Development Fund will go towards upgrading and improving energy efficiency at the toilets at Penllyn, Caernarfon; Marian y De, Pwllheli; Queen’s, Harlech; y Cei, Barmouth and Ganllwyd.

Councillor Catrin Wager, Gwynedd Council’s Cabinet Member with responsibility for municipal services said:

“Improvement work has already been carried out last year at public toilets in Bethesda, Y Bala and Beddgelert. By securing a grant from the Rural Community Development Fund, we are pleased to be able to make further improvements to the county’s toilets.

“There are more public toilets in Gwynedd than most counties across the country, and thanks to partnerships forged between the Council and local Community, Town and City councils we have managed to keep the vast majority of these toilets open.

“The latest investment will raise the standard of facilities in Barmouth, Ganllwyd, Harlech, Caernarfon and Pwllheli and is good news for local people and for the tourism sector alike.”

Whilst the work is being carried out these public toilets will be temporarily closed (see details below). Details about the locations of public toilets and community toilets in Gwynedd are available on www.gwynedd.llyw.cymru/toilets
