New, varied and colourful exhibitions have opened at Storiel, Bangor. From portraits of Welsh icons, art work by local artists to the slate landscape of Gwynedd, there's something for everyone to enjoy here.

‘Cymry ar Gynfas’ – Open until 4 September.

Twelve artists, twelve portraits. Original work from the television series ‘Cymry ar Gynfas’ (Welsh on Canvas) where each episode followed one artist as they portrayed one Welsh icon in a media of their choice. Amongst the faces are Dafydd Iwan, Bryn Terfel, Kissy Crawford, Iolo Williams and others.

Glyn Baines & Helen Baines, ‘The Two of Us’ – Open until 2 October.

This exhibition by father and daughter duo celebrates colour, nature and life. Striking compositions of abstract collages by Glyn Baines derived from works surrounding him in his studio. Working outdoors with pencil and paper, Helen Baines is inspired by the beautiful surrounding areas of Cwmystradllyn, Oerddwr and Nantmor to name but a few.

JTPARRY (Ap Idwal) 1853 -1913 – Quarryman Painter – Open until 16 October.

Views of Dyffryn Ogwen, Nant Ffrancon, Cwm Idwal and the surrounding area by this local and little known 19th century artist. This exhibition is part of celebrating the landscape of these slate areas and is timely with the successful bid for World Heritage Status.

The Slate Landscape - A bid for World Heritage Status – Open until 16 October.

A selection of projects identified as ‘LleCHI’ from across the quarrying communities of Gwynedd. The successful nomination and LleCHI is an opportunity to celebrate the unique contribution of a landscape, communities, businesses and people of Gwynedd as they roofed the world.
