Regular bus services return between Criccieth and Caernarfon
Gwynedd Council is pleased to confirm that extra regular public bus services have returned between Criccieth and Caernarfon from 27 August.
Following changes after a decision to revoke the licence of the company that had previously provided bus services along the route, two buses a day had been running between Criccieth and Caernarfon. But the Council has been working to introduce additional services, and are pleased to confirm that Gwynfor Coaches will be offering four additional journeys that will run between Criccieth, through Rhoslan and on to Caernarfon from 27 August.
Councillor Gareth Griffith, Gwynedd Council Cabinet member for Environment who is responsible for transport matters said:
“I’m very pleased that extra services will now be in place between Criccieth and Caernarfon and hope that local residents will make full use of the service.
“Council officers have been working hard to understand the local needs and to discuss with bus companies to try and meet those needs within the resources available to us. We’re pleased that this service, which is very important to the area’s residents will now increase.”
Councillor Eirwyn Williams, who represents Criccieth on Gwynedd Council added:
“This is very good news for the people in the Criccieth area. We had felt the loss of the regular services that travelled between Criccieth and Caernarfon and through Rhoslan and are delighted that more bus services will now be running.
“In this time of financial challenges, the Council needs to show that there is a need for the service, and I would therefore encourage people to make the most of the service.”
The 1R service will run up to four journeys a day between Criccieth and Caernarfon, travelling through Rhoslan.
