Pennal children strive for safety

Date: 04/08/2017

Three budding artists from Ysgol Pennal will help keep their classmates safe on the road thanks to their design skills.

The pupils from Ysgol Pennal, Lilly, Chenoa and Theo, have won a competition to design signs to warn motorists of a new 20mph zone outside the school. The signs will be displayed on the main road outside the school.

The new 20mph zone has been introduced following concern about the safety of the pupils outside the school.

Road safety lessons were also held, which included a “Sach Stori” for Key Stage 1 pupils and a road safety quiz for Key Stage 2 pupils.

Shirley Wyn Williams from Gwynedd Council’s Transport Service, said: “Well done to all the children who have been busy making posters and a special congratulations to Lilly, Chenoa and Theo.

“Teaching children about road safety from an early age is very important. We were very pleased to have this opportunity to visit Ysgol Pennal and to work with the pupils.”
