Owain Glyndŵr silent disco - very different events at Gwynedd castles
A series of Owain Glyndŵr silent disco events have been held in four of the area’s World Heritage castles during recent weeks.
Starting the tour at Beaumaris and then Conwy, the disco moved on to Harlech and Caernarfon castles, with the history of the Owain Glyndŵr’s revolt coming to life through a series of sound and dance tracks.
The performances were very successful with a high number of tickets sold and the feedback from all attendees encouraging and positive. There was a variety of older and younger attendees mixing and taking part and getting into the experience.
Councillor Ioan Thomas, Gwynedd Council Cabinet Member for Economic Development said: “This summer we have been inspired to create a legendary event at legendary locations inspired by Owain Glyndŵr. We want to build our night time economy by creating a unique and fun night out for visitors and locals and these events were a great way to do that.”
The work was led by Gwynedd Council with the support and co-operation of Cadw, Snowdonia National Park Authority, the Isle of Anglesey County Council and Conwy County Borough Council and the disco and the production itself was created by Light Ladd & Emberton. The purpose of the events was to promote Visit Wales’ 'Year of Legends’ 2017, and this project was sponsored by the Welsh Government through the Visit Wales Regional Tourist Engagement fund.
