Participation Strategy Consultation

Under the Local Government and Elections (Wales) Act 2021, local authorities in Wales must publish a Participation Strategy which notes the ways that local people are encouraged to participate in the Council's decision-making process.

Therefore, the aim of the public Participation Strategy is to encourage people to participate in the decision-making process and note the arrangements that this Council intends to put in place to embed a culture of partnership with the public.

The draft strategy attempts to explain how our objectives in terms of participation will make a genuine difference to the way we engage with people in Gwynedd. Our objectives have been shown clearly in the draft strategy, which align with the specific guidelines in the Act regarding the content of the strategy.  Within every objective, we have identified clear outcomes and actions.

Here is the Cyngor Gwynedd Draft Strategy.

We will amend the content following responses from the public leading to a final version being presented to the Cabinet and Full Council for adoption.  Responses to the consultation will form a vital part of the final Strategy.

It is expected that the Strategy will evolve and improve over time as good practices emerge and as further technological advances are made.

This is our first Strategy and its implementation will be kept under review.
