You can get help from a food bank by receiving a voucher from a support worker who is helping you, or by going to the food bank. A food bank voucher allows you to get emergency food equivalent to 3 days for you and your family. Social Workers, Housing, Education and Benefits officers are all able to give you a food bank voucher. Having a voucher is not essential for all food banks.
If you need the service contact your local Food Bank.

Food pantries
A Food Pantry (also called a feeding scheme, fareshare scheme or other similar names) usually distributes leftover food from supermarkets and shops to local residents.
A Food Pantry is not known as 'emergency food', but it can be essential for some households as a way of having affordable food. Some of them package and deliver the food to homes, others invite residents to come andcollect food from a building in the community. Some give the food for free and otherscharge a small fee of £3-5 for a bag of food.
Food Pantries have been established to save residual food from going to waste, and prevent that food from going to landfill.
