Mental health

Mental health problems can affect any one of us at any time. Cyngor Gwynedd's Mental Health teams, led by social workers, offer a range support and social services for individuals over 18 years old with their mental health needs, and their carers.

There are many groups and organisations within Gwynedd that can help and support you with your mental health. You can find information about groups locally for you on the Dewis Cymru website:

Dewis Cymru: Mental health

You can also find self help books at your local library: Reading Well Books on Prescription for mental health

Mental Health Social Service - Cyngor Gwynedd

Cyngor Gwynedd has two teams of social workers and support workers to assist individuals with their mental health needs.

We can

  • provide information, advice and social care for people with mental health needs
  • help you with personal support to enable you to live as independently as possible
  • offer advice and share contact details of useful organisations

We do NOT

  • provide an emergency service (in an emergency call 111 and choose option 2)
  • provide medication (contact your GP or the Community Mental Health Team (NHS).
